Finasteride and dutasteride are 2 common medications for the long-term treatment of an enlarged prostate. There has been some concern that these medications increase the risk of depression, however a recent study evaluating over 53,000 men saw no increased risk. Instead, depression may be due to a man's underlying urinary symptoms and could be an indication that surgical interventions such as UroLift or TURP should be considered.
